Meet Deifer, he is almost 9yrs young, sadly not neutered, his vaccinations have expired but he is chipped.

We are told he is unknown around children, a no to other dogs and cats and was curious when he met livestock.

Deifer is very protective of his family, a trait that was not dealt with in his early years and is now a problem in the home, it also manifests itself when out walking with other dogs. He did once board with another dog and as the owner was not present he was fine.

When out walking Deifer will bark and lunge at other dogs and is too strong for the lady owner to hold, his male owner has a bad back.

He is nervous when visiting the vets, a good traveller in a crate, knows all his basic commands and has recall if no distractions.

He did wear a muzzle throughout the assessment as owner did not feel happy that Deifer would not try and warn our volunteer off, I do feel some of this will be being transmitted down the lead from the owner and dog is reacting accordingly, anyone offering to meet this lad will need to have a fair amount of GSD experience to help him with this.

Why we do what we do

German Shepherd Rescue Elite was not only set up to help as many unwanted, abandoned and neglected German Shepherds as possible, but to also offer education to the general public on the responsibilities / pros / cons of owning a large working breed dog and to be able to offer help and advice so hopefully we can become the prevention for once instead of always being the cure.
