This young lady is Roxy who is just 10 months old. Not yet spayed as not yet seen a season, but is vaccinated and microchipped. This is what our volunteer had to say about her:

“Roxy is a petite puppy-like black and tan girl. Her present owner has owned her since she was 8 weeks old. She is now 10 months old. Her present owner is struggling to manage her as she mouths and sometimes will nip. She reports that she has drawn blood/ripped clothing when this has happened but it’s always due to over excitement about seeing people or herding she thinks.

Myself and another volunteer attended and went straight out on a walk with her and the owner. Within only a few minutes I had the lead and was walking her. She did not try to nip me but did scrabble/bounce to try to come over and say hello. A firm “no” and she did listen. Out on the walk she was excited by her surroundings and did pull to watch passing cars go by (no lunge). She did bounce and bark at some passing dogs. I would not describe the bouncing as strong. The owner reports that she can play nicely off lead with other dogs.

When we got back from the walk she brought me a ball to play and was very sweet – there was no nipping or mouthing. She was also food motivated and did sits and downs. She had a sensitive stomach and is fed on James Wellbeloved Duck and has hypoallergenic treats. The owner reports this is because she had an issue with malabsorption of her food as a puppy (not EPI)

She currently lives with two cats and children. The owner feels she is over stimulated by both and will mouth/nip at the child. She has never got to the cats but will chase if they run. Her 10 year old autistic child is scared of her which is her reason for rehoming as Roxy will jump up at her and mouth.  She has been left for up to 4 hours and has once been destructive.

She is taking Roxy to dog training to work on her bouncing at other dogs and general behaviour. She has previously been trained to loose lead walk (she walked on a dogmatic with us but no excessive pull – but no loose lead walking!)

In short, a really lovely girl who with some firm boundaries will make a lovely dog.”

Roxy’s owners have been working hard with her and are keeping her at home where she belongs.
