Darren SpavinsBe careful with Pet plan if you have a rescue. We've found that because ours were strays and we can not provide their history they are very unlikely to pay out.

Louise DuncanMoved from Pet Plan to Agria . .. much cheaper and better cover

Fleen ForbesHonestly, I wouldn't waste the money. We put Β£40 a month into savings and keep that in case anything happens to either of our dogs. Pet insurance has so many loop holes and conditions to be met, plus if you do ever claim (unless you have a lifetime policy) your rates will go through the roof

Cheryl CribbinI use pet plan with my rescue. Touch wood not had to claim anything big on it for him just have his nutraquin on for his arthritis

Pam CraneJust be honest with insurance companies. I'm with pet plan been so for over 20 years never had a problem .ask lots of questions and get a cover for life policy.you could just put some money away each month but if things go wrong sooner rather than later.would you have Β£7000 ready to lay your hands on

Pete MottramSainsbury's Pet have been great with ours, you can either pay up front and claim it back or just give the form to the vets, they've never argued over anything our dog has had done including going into full surgery twice. The price has gone up by a fair bit since we took it out but to be fair he's gone from age 4 to age 10 in that time and we've claimed for something almost every year. Like any insurance it's a pain to pay for but a godsend when you use it.

Tj BinksPetplan have been the best with our 3. 1 of which is a rescue. Just had 3 lumpectomy ops for my eldest and paid out. We are covered up to 12k per dog and, heaven forbid, if the worst happened we would never have saved that much. . She had Β£1000's spent 2 years ago with recurring bladder infections and they were great. Not cheap but have been the best for us. If you never need it then it has cost you a fortune that you may have saved away, but if you need it you may not have saved enough in time xx

****PLEASE SHARE SAMSON AND LET'S GET HIM A HOME*****

#Chesterfield

Cast your eyes over this lovely older boy, his name is Samson and we think he is about 9 / 10yrs old. He came to us entire and still is due to his age and weak condition, he is fully vaccinated and chipped.

He has been great with all people he has met if a little wary and quite at first. He does get stressed when around other dogs but having now been out walking next to other dogs he has improved but would still probably be better as an only dog as he has been the rest of his life as a yard dog.

We would not rehome with children but sensible teenagers would be ok, no to cats.

Kennels is no place for older dogs, could you offer this gent a fireside seat of his own?

****DOG OF THE DAY****
****PLEASE SHARE SHEBA AND LET'S GET HER A HOME*****

#Essex

This lovely young lass is 9 month Sheba. Not spayed but vaccinations have been started and she is microchipped.

Sheba came to us from a local pound so we have no history on her. As no history we would not rehome with young children. Has been fine with other large dogs she has encountered at the kennels so far. Unknown with cats.

Sheba is a typical baby that has missed out on a good start in life in terms of training and socialisation, but is a very happy and waggy tailed girl.

Can you give Sheba the proper start in life she deserves please?

We took Mecho & Nanuk out walking today, these 2 boys are cracking... They're gorgeous inside & out. I'd never met them before but straight away they let me touch them all over. They are big boys and initially pretty strong on the lead, for myself & a male vollie, but I think this may be initial excitement of being out on a walk and release of energy because once we'd been walking 30mins they calmed down. The vid is towards the end of the walk where they're not pulling so much 🐾

Baby Sheba 🐾🐾 What a little munchkin... typical pup, bit mouthy, bouncy, playful, liked to hear her own voice when passing barking dogs behind gates but a firm no was all she needed to correct her. Enjoyed being out with the other kennel dogs. Can't see this little girl being in kennels for long 🐾

Why we do what we do

German Shepherd Rescue Elite was not only set up to help as many unwanted, abandoned and neglected German Shepherds as possible, but to also offer education to the general public on the responsibilities / pros / cons of owning a large working breed dog and to be able to offer help and advice so hopefully we can become the prevention for once instead of always being the cure.
