Koda is available for adoption through GSRE – this is what her current owner says about her.
Koda is a 14-month-old, female, semi/long haired, dark sable German Shepherd. She is neutered, vaccinated, micro-chipped and flea/worm treated. She has no known food allergies and no disclosed medical issues. She has been in her current home since she was 8 weeks old when she was bought from a private breeder. She is ok when visiting the vets but will show some anxiety.
Koda is being rehomed as her current owner has become anxious walking her due to her reactivity towards other dogs and strangers (she walked well on the lead with the assessor). They are also expecting a second child in October.
Koda currently lives with a 6-year-old child without issue but is not tested with other children outside of the home. She is described as not being good with other dogs and barks at them, including the neighbour’s dog which does not respond. She has never lived with another dog. She is not good with cats and her reaction to livestock is untested. Koda is quite vocal when strangers come into the home, including deliveries, and can also be vocal when she sees strangers when out walking. She has never attacked or bitten anybody and has not shown any aggression.
Koda can be left alone for up to 4 hours and does not display any destructive behaviour. She travels well in a car without any issues. She eats ‘Pets at Home’ dry kibble daily. She lives indoors and is housetrained. She walks well on a lead and uses a Halti head collar. She has a limited recall which is better when she is not distracted. She knows sit, lay down, stay and leave it. Koda does not show any possessive tendencies over food or toys.
During the time the GSRE assessor spent with Koda, this is what they said about her.
Koda is a very attractive well-conditioned dog with dark sable semi-long hair. When the assessor arrived at the home Koda was in the kitchen barking at the gate which separated her from the living room. She soon settled and was allowed into the room, quickly accepting the assessor. Within minutes, Koda was playing tug with a toy and seemed relaxed.
Koda will need some help with her confidence and anxiety but the assessor believes that in the right hands, Koda will be a fabulous, attractive, well-mannered dog.
