Brandy is available for adoption through GSRE – this is what her current owner says about her.
Brandy is a 4-and-a-half-year-old female, black & tan, short haired German Shepherd. She is neutered, micro-chipped, vaccinated and worm/flea treated. She has no known food allergies and no disclosed medical issues. She eats Arden Grange dry food twice daily. She has been in her current home since she was 8 weeks old where she has grown up alongside another dog (no details on gender/age/breed). She doesn’t enjoy going to the vets but once she is there, she is fine.
Brandy is being rehomed as her current owner is suffering with ill health.
The present owner says Brandy is good with visiting children aged 6, 10 and 14 years. However, due to her nervousness, it is suggested that she would appreciate a quieter home without resident children. She is selective with other dogs but may be ok with the right dog after careful introductions. She is a no to cats and her reaction to livestock is unknown.
Brandy has never shown any aggression or bitten anyone. When people visit the home, she will bark and have a sniff but no aggression is shown. She is a nervous girl who will hide away from strangers until she is comfortable enough to say hello and take treats. She is currently left alone for up to 4 to 6 hours with no destructive tendencies. She travels well in the car.
Brandy is fully housetrained and lives indoors. She does not have a recall out of the home as she has never been let off-lead. She knows sit, down, paw, stop, leave, bed and come. She has not shown any aggression over food and toys and shares happily with the other dog in the home.
During the time the GSRE assessor spent with Brandy, this is what they said about her.
What a sweet girl Brandy is!
The assessor attended the home and was greeted by Brandy who jumped up at the gate and gave a little bark. Upon entering the house, Brandy was nervous and hid behind the sofa initially and didn’t want to come over to the assessor. However, after some time, the assessor was able to build up some trust with the help of some treats!
The assessor got Brandy’s lead and she was happy to go with them for a short walk. She was very excited and jumped a little as well as pulling on the lead but she is not currently being walked by owner which is likely to contribute to this. She seemed fine around the traffic and was happy sniffing around. She is an energetic dog who would suit an active owner who enjoys long walks.
Brandy is fine with strangers outside, they just worry her when she is in confined spaces. She does not respond well to being shouted at and needs a calm and patient owner who can offer her reassurance with her training and help build her confidence.
Overall, Brandy is in excellent condition. She is an intelligent, amazing girl who appears very loyal and would make an excellent companion. She loves cuddles, fuss and playing ball.
