Bodee is available for adoption through GSRE – this is what his current owner says about him.
Bodee is a 17-month-old, male, short coated, black and tan, German Shepherd. He is not currently neutered, vaccinated or Flea/worm treated but is microchipped. He has no known food allergies and no disclosed medical issues. He currently eats a mix of Hero dry and wet food but won’t always eat every day. He has only lived in his current home for the last 8 weeks after being offered to his current owner by a man from another county. He is mouthy when visiting the vets and will bark at other dogs in the waiting area.
Bodee is being rehomed through GSRE as his new owner cannot manage him due to significant personal health reasons.
It is not known how Bodee is with children and with no history on him, and being quite a pushy/mouthy dog, he will not be rehomed with children. His reaction towards dogs if not fully known as he is walked at ‘quiet times’ but he will bark at other dogs. His reaction to cats, cows/sheep is unknown but he has barked at horses. He will bark a lot at people coming to the home and is described as being jumpy. He will also bark at people walking past the home and will bark significantly whilst out in the garden.
Bodee has been left for up to an hour and has not shown any destructive behaviour during that time. He enjoys going out in the car and travels well. He lives indoors, is fully housetrained and will bark at his owner when he needs to be let outside. He will pull on the lead when out walking but can walk at heel when he wants to. He does not have a reliable recall but will eventually return after running off for a while. He knowns sit, paw, down and wait.
Bodee has not shown any possessive tendencies over food/toys although he does not have any toys indoors at his current home. He enjoys going to an enclosed field and playing on the agility equipment and will chase balls outside but hasn’t been taught to fetch them back. It is reported that he currently has two short walks a day (20 mins) and a longer walk every other day (1 hour). He does not appear to like fireworks and won’t go into the garden if he hears any.
During the time the GSRE assessor spent with Bodee, this is what they said about him.
Upon the assessor’s arrival at the home, Bodee was barking and jumping up at the window and front door. After a minute to get him under control, the assessor entered the home and Bodee was curious but only jumped up once and did not continue to bark.
Bodee is a young but large energetic boy who was very mouthy with his current owner and the assessor. He would often push himself close to the assessor’s face but he did not show any aggression and eventually listened to being called back.
Bodee responds well to treats and will sit and wait patiently for them. He also enjoys a belly rub! This boy would benefit from being shown some boundaries from an experienced GSD owner. He is a beautiful looking boy who appears to be in very good condition.
