We were contacted by the council to ask if we could urgently help this poor lad Jerry Lee. He was microchipped but no response to contact, and was skinny, overgrown nails and a massive tumour on his ear as you can see. We took him straight in and straight to our vets for pain relief and to assess the next steps.
A couple of days later Jerry Lee had surgery to resect his ear. Sadly not all margins were clear and a couple of weeks later a further resection was carried out, and results show we have hopefully now all margins are clear.
Jerry Lee is 8 years young and since having his op has been loving life and is the most friendly lad ever.
I want to say it was unbelievable, but not surprised by anything these days, but after 5 days in our care, his owner contacted the council wanting him back! They had noticed his ear in September and he had been given some drugs but seemed fine. The state of Jerry Lee did not happen overnight! It was made clear to them that all costs would have to be covered and there may be a possibility of neglect charges. Strangely they were never heard from again.
Jerry Lee is safe now and will be given the best of life we can give him.
Jerry Lee has been adopted.
