Gunner was in council kennels:
“Meet Gunner who is looking very sad and confused. All we know is he’s a large size and he is chipped so we are hoping his owner is looking for him. If not claimed we are looking for a rescue space and Gunner times up on 10.08.24.”
We immediately offered to take him but were surprised when it was not accepted immediately as they wanted to further assess. Gunner was aggressive in their opinion and sent a video of him in his kennels. We immediately saw a young, scared boy who was shouting more out of fear than anything.
This poor young lad is st8ill a puppy as he is not 2 until December. He is in a dreadful state, matted coat, bald patches, yeasty smell. Obviously has been abused by a man as cautious of Mitch choosing to go to the girls, but Mitch as usual, is winning him over.
Wants to say hello to the other dogs but obviously not allowed yet. He will have his vaccinations started once he is fully settled and had a good hibiscrub bath.
Will need to be an adult home and from initial assessment, would probably love the company of an older dog to give him confidence and learn to live life instead of just existing!
Update
Gunner has had some treatment for his skin which was not the best, probably because of poor diet. His vaccinations have been started and he will be neutered soon.
This gorgeous lad has learnt to trust people again and now has a smile on his face and the sparkle back in his eyes. Happily going out with volunteers and definitely has accepted Mitch.
Gunner has been adopted.
