“Well what can I say about these 3 monkeys! Bruce, Barney and Bonnie were part of a massive seizure of dogs from a site where the lady was hoarding. In fairness, the dogs that came to us were all in good condition and friendly. The pups and mum were microchipped and pups vaccinations have been started.

Mum, Lola, who is also looking for a home of her own and is currently in Nottingham, is definitely a GSD but who dad was….  They are Valentine babies having been born 14^th February.

All have different characteristics but have seen no aggression towards people or other dogs. Bruce is not keen on getting into the car and is maybe a bit more of a thinker as to potential dangers. Barney is a goofball and is fine with everything he has met. Bonnie is good when away from her siblings. All three are being shown the world and getting some of the training they have missed out on.”

This was Barney’s original write up in 2023 and having found a wonderful home who have worked very hard with him, they are looking to rehome him as they feel living in a busy London suburb is just too stressful for Barney which is making him reactive. Barney would love a quieter and more rural home and would benefit from an older dog to guide him and give him back his confidence and calmness.

Barney was born February 2023 and is microchipped, vaccinated and neutered. Older children only as he can get jealous of younger children getting too much attention. Barney does not like large male dogs or poodles, and this is when he can become reactive and has redirected onto a person out of frustration before. He has also started becoming reactive to cars.

Being a Mali cross he does have high prey drive so no small furries. Greeted our volunteer with interest and no aggression. Both ball and food orientated but no possession issues. Used to being left 4 hours and does not bark or chew. Recall fine unless distracted, but has basic commands.

“Overall when I met him he seemed a lovely dog, friendly and obedient. It seems a shame he has become more reactive over time. The owners have sought help from trainers and clearly care for Barney, but now feel out of their depth.”
