We were asked to take in Betsy from council kennels and this is what we were told:
“We currently have a GSD bitch who came to us a couple of months ago with heat stroke after she was broken out of a hot van in the 30 degree heat. She is under Hampshire Police but was never claimed by any owners. She has a foreign microchip so we are unable to find details on her age, however I would guess she is anything between 3-5 years old. She is good with all people male and female and hasn’t shown any aggression inside or outside of the kennel environment. She is ok with dogs passing her on walks but isn’t great with the interaction and will bark if they come right up to her, she will get agitated when they go past her kennel.
She loves toys and will play all of the time, she has an ok recall but it isn’t perfect and she doesn’t pull much on the lead. She is house trained and can do sit and paw. When standing still she sometimes gets impatient and will grab the lead and pull you to carry on going but again not in an aggressive way at all. She is currently weighing around 29kg and still has a bit more to gain, she was 23.5kg when she arrived with us.”
Betsy is a lovely girl and loves people but really is not keen on having dogs in her space so would need to be the only dog in the home. No young children as we do not know her history and unknown with cats, but suspect she will not be keen on them either.
Betsy would be a lovely companion for the right home.
Betsy has been adopted by her foster dad.
