This handsome older lad is Bruno who is 10 years old and a GSD cross Rottie. He is neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. This is what our volunteer has to say about him:

“Bruno belonged to Leanne’s mother, who recently passed away.

When I called at the house Bruno barked, when I went in he was happy to come straight up to me for a fuss, no signs of aggression, he was very friendly.  He accepted treats gently.

Bruno is a GSD/Rottie cross who 10 years old, Leanne’s mum has had him since he was 10 weeks old.  He is vaccinated and chipped.  Bruno is a big lad, I would estimate he weighs in the region of 50 kgs.  I took him out for a walk and he pulls a little on the lead, but not excessively.  Apparently, he has ‘selective hearing’ when it comes to an off-the-lead recall, he will come back if he feels like it.  He can be selective with other dogs when out, and may bark/growl at them. He has basic commands such as sit and down.  He has a wonderful temperament and was happy to interact with me as a complete stranger.  He has had limited contact with children and it was recommended he only be rehomed with older children because he can be rather clumsy.

Despite his age, he moves freely and enjoys 2/3 short walks a day.  He appears in good general health.  He has recently had a cough which has been successfully treated with antibiotics.  He has 5 fatty lumps at various places around his back and legs.  These have been investigated by the vet who has recently taken biopsies which have confirmed they are nothing nasty.

Bruno is a lovely lad who needs a quiet home with someone who is physically fit and able to exercise a large dog. “

Bruno has been taken into foster by another rescue.

Why we do what we do

German Shepherd Rescue Elite was not only set up to help as many unwanted, abandoned and neglected German Shepherds as possible, but to also offer education to the general public on the responsibilities / pros / cons of owning a large working breed dog and to be able to offer help and advice so hopefully we can become the prevention for once instead of always being the cure.
