Buddy and Joey are brothers and are GSD cross Akitas. They would probably be best rehomed separately as both lads need some training and tend to have the same behaviour traits at present. They will be a year old at the end of February. They are both microchipped. Vaccinations due May. Still entire. They have been in the same home since pups but are having to be rehomed due to their mum having a serious medical condition which means they are not getting the attention or time they deserve.

Unknown with children as they have never encountered them but they bark at them when out walking, but then they tend to lunge and bark at everything. Lead training is definitely going to be needed and neither dogs are allowed off lead so recall will need establishing as well. We are told Buddy is ok with dogs off lead but we would suggest careful introduction as he does not get off lead much, whilst Joey is unknown. A no to cats as overly interested.

They are left 3-4 hours a day with no chewing and travel well in a car. No food or toy aggression however they are fed separately as Joey is quite slow and Buddy will try to steal his food which can cause squabbles. No medical conditions however Buddy must not have soft toys as he will destroy and eat them!

Buddy and Joey barked when our volunteer arrived, both dogs jumped up (introduced separately) but not in an aggressive manner nor did our volunteer feel she would be knocked over. Not had many visitors in their home but were fine with our volunteer.

These lads are big and strong and are going to need active and experienced owners to get their training back on track, but there is no real malice in either of them. Could you give Buddy or Joey a home please?

Buddy has been rehomed by his owner.

Why we do what we do

German Shepherd Rescue Elite was not only set up to help as many unwanted, abandoned and neglected German Shepherds as possible, but to also offer education to the general public on the responsibilities / pros / cons of owning a large working breed dog and to be able to offer help and advice so hopefully we can become the prevention for once instead of always being the cure.
