Harper is available for adoption through GSRE – this is what her current owner says about her.

Harper is a 3-year-old female, black and tan German Shepherd with short hair. She is neutered, vaccinated, micro-chipped and her worm/flea treatment is due. She has no disclosed medical issues other than having a sensitive stomach (no known food allergies). She currently eats dry food which is left down for her to graze. She has been in her current home since she was 8 weeks old after being bought from a private breeder.

Harper is being rehomed as her current owner states that as their family is growing, they can no longer give her the time that she deserves.

Harper is described as being good with children and currently lives with a 5-year-old and a 9-month-old baby without issue. She is good with other dogs, she is inquisitive but not reactive towards them. She has lived with another dog before, an older Rottweiler, without issue. She is good with cats too and currently lives with a kitten, having been successfully introduced recently. She barked once at a horse but her reaction to other livestock is unknown.

Harper has never shown aggression towards anybody and has never bitten anyone. She will bark when somebody enters the house initially but as soon as she is introduced, she is fine. She can be left for up to 4 hours and, in the past, has only ever chewed some children’s toys. She travels well in the car, lives indoors and is fully housetrained. She is not afraid of fireworks and will sit and watch them.

Harper does pull on the lead, as she is very inquisitive, but not excessively. She is described as having a recall and also knows sit and down. She does not show any possessive tendencies over food or toys and is said to be good when visiting the vets.
During the time the GSRE assessor spent with Harper, this is what they said about her.

Harper is a very inquisitive young girl. She barked at the GSRE assessor upon their arrival, but 5 minutes after introductions, they were out walking together. She did pull a bit on the lead but soon settled into the walk, wanting to sniff everything. She did not react to cars, pedestrians, other dogs or a man cutting his hedge. Harper is an energetic girl who will suit an active owner who can continue her training and enjoy spending time with her.

Harper has been adopted.

Why we do what we do

German Shepherd Rescue Elite was not only set up to help as many unwanted, abandoned and neglected German Shepherds as possible, but to also offer education to the general public on the responsibilities / pros / cons of owning a large working breed dog and to be able to offer help and advice so hopefully we can become the prevention for once instead of always being the cure.
