Joseph is about coming up to 2 years of age. He is a Dutch Herder and has come to us through a council where he found himself. He is now neutered and vaccinations now done and he is microchipped.
Joseph is very friendly with people and other dogs. In fact too friendly! Jospeh’s biggest issue is that if he is left alone outside, he will quite happily jump over any fence to visit other dogs. This is fine until he visits a dog that does not want to be visited! No young children however as he is a typical Herder, quick and energetic and loves to ‘tug’. This lad can get overwhelmed in busy environments but food can calm him.
Joseph has been assessed for a working role and with some work and a bit more maturity, this could be a possibility. However, when on trial, it was felt that he needed a very confident and experienced handler and it is suspected he may have had some bite work in the past.
Joseph would be much happier been a family pet with another large breed dog to play with, but not a busy home as he will be protective of his home and family.
Joseph will need a home experienced with the breed that can give him plenty of exercise and mental stimulation whilst increasing his confidence out in the big wide world.
Joseph’s foster home has made his stay official.
