This young lad is Max, who is a Belgian Shepherd Malinois. He was one at the beginning of November. Max is neutered, microchipped and vaccinated.

This lovely young man came into us at the beginning of the year from the RSPCA having spent 3 months in kennels where his rehabilitation had been started. He had been removed from a home where there was severe domestic violence occurring, and understandably, Max has been affected by this making him quite a nervous soul. He also had not seen much, if any of life outside of his home.

On meeting Max at the kennels he knew well, he started off trying to act brave when he realised there was a stranger in his space, however with the aid of a ball, which he loves, and some treats, which he also loves, he was quickly accepting of another person. On arrival at our kennels, he sat and was absorbing all the new sights, smells and people, and was brave enough to take a treat from them all and go for a little walk.

Max is understandably more nervous of men. Loves other dogs. No children. Did meet the cat who hissed at him and terrified him. This super lad is going to excel once he learns to trust people again, as once he trusts you, he is just a cuddle monster and loves to be stroked and rubbed all over. You can see from the photos how he has improved, putting on weight and more relaxed and happy. The first few photos and the video was taken the day he arrived.

Max will need a very experienced, calm and confident home to help him through his journey. Would benefit from living with another dog as a role model. Are you that special home?

Max is a very lucky lad and has indeed found himself that special home.

Why we do what we do

German Shepherd Rescue Elite was not only set up to help as many unwanted, abandoned and neglected German Shepherds as possible, but to also offer education to the general public on the responsibilities / pros / cons of owning a large working breed dog and to be able to offer help and advice so hopefully we can become the prevention for once instead of always being the cure.
