May I introduce Max who is 9 years old. He is neutered, microchipped and vaccinated. Max has not lived with children but has met children 9 plus, and at his age would probably prefer not to have the energy of young children around him.

We are told max is good with other dogs, and has lived with another GSD, an occasional bark, and is also ok with cats. Greeted our volunteers with a waggy tail. Max can pull on the lead and does bark at cars sometimes! Basic commands but can be stubborn with recall.

Max is on Metacam for arthritis and actually likes the vets! We are still trying to get his full medical history. Sad rehoming due to a marriage breakdown. His owner has had to put him into kennels until he is rehomed.

This is what our volunteer had to say about him:

“Max can be a tad stubborn but can be won over with a treat. Overall Max is very well looked after but could do with a good brush as he is moulting. He will allow you to do this but gets bored with it after 10 minutes. He does not like his nails being clipped much.

Max is absolutely adorable. He greeted us at the gate with a wagging tail. He didn’t bark when we entered the property, he just took it all in his stride and went off with my son to play catch. Although Max hasn’t lived with children he has been around them with no issues.

Max is quite a big lad but he’s an absolute diamond and would make an excellent family member.”

Max’s mum has managed to find a way for him to stay with her.

Why we do what we do

German Shepherd Rescue Elite was not only set up to help as many unwanted, abandoned and neglected German Shepherds as possible, but to also offer education to the general public on the responsibilities / pros / cons of owning a large working breed dog and to be able to offer help and advice so hopefully we can become the prevention for once instead of always being the cure.
