This gorgeous lady is Molly who is 10 years young. She is microchipped, fully vaccinated and spayed. She has been in her home since a pup and is sadly being rehomed as her owner’s wife has passed away and his housing contract ends soon meaning he will struggle to find a home with that will allow Molly.

“Molly appears to have a lovely temperament. She gave a typical loud GSD alert bark when I arrived but after a curious inspection she settled on the floor next to my chair. She has lived in a rural environment (on a small holding) for most of her life and she has happily lived with a lab that joined the family as a pup when Molly was 2 years old. She obviously gets on well with him as during my visit she ran around the garden playing with him.

I was able to take her for a short walk and she walks well on the lead. I brought my own dog and she did not react when my helper walked my dog a few meters away. She just appeared mildly curious, acknowledged them and then moved on. When my dog was put back in my van in a crate, molly came up to the crate with relaxed friendly body language, sniffed my dog, and then moved away to continue her walk. I would suggest that she probably would not accept another dog in her face given her age but I only witnessed her being curious, calm and her body language was between neutral and friendly.

Molly’s coat condition is reasonable for her age but her back legs have lost muscle and are a little wobbly. She has arthritis but this not treated. Molly is fed Wagg twice a day. A look at her diet and a plan to manage the arthritis would almost certainly make the world of difference to Molly at this stage of her life.

Molly would make an amazing companion for anyone who would be happy to give her a home. She would not need an active home – a home with a garden and the opportunity for short walks would be perfect. Rural is what she is used to but she has transitioned to urban with no problem. As she has always lived with another dog she could potentially live with another dog again and she clearly enjoys the company and opportunity for play that another dog offers.”

Why we do what we do

German Shepherd Rescue Elite was not only set up to help as many unwanted, abandoned and neglected German Shepherds as possible, but to also offer education to the general public on the responsibilities / pros / cons of owning a large working breed dog and to be able to offer help and advice so hopefully we can become the prevention for once instead of always being the cure.
