BEING ADVERTISED ON BEHALF OF ANOTHER RESCUE WHO ARE URGENTLY LOOKING FOR A FOSTER HOME FOR THIS POOR LAD.

Prince is an approximately 7 years old GSD who was abandoned by his so called family in a park. Poor Prince has been starved and has chronic mange which is now sorted with treatment.

When Prince arrived he was in so much pain with his hot and sore skin that understandably he was unable to cope with being handled. He was also extremely scared and confused.

As his skin has improved along with his overall health, he slowly learnt to trust people again but continues to need to be muzzled during his baths and any vet visits.

Prince is still aloof with new people and needs a hands off approach but is getting more relaxed as time goes by.

In the home he is house trained, and he is happy to potter around a garden and then snooze the rest of the day. He shows no signs of separation anxiety.

Prince was not good with other dogs when he arrived but he is now accepting other calm dogs who do not feel the need to pester him and get in his personal space.

We firmly believe that with time and patience, Prince will learn to bond with his primary carers, but as long as they understand and are experienced to deal with his distrust of new people.  Would be best in a dog and pet free home without any resident or visiting children but could cope with another calm dog in the home.

UPDATE JANUARY 2023

“I’m sure lots of our followers know Prince. Prince came to us quite some time ago after being found ina. Terrible state with mange and ear infections and he has remained at our kennels site. We have tried and tried in vain to find him the right home but haven’t been able to make it happen for him. He isn’t always an easy boy, doesn’t really like strangers touching him and isn’t keen on overhandling or fuss from those that he does know. With so many Sheps out there looking for homes there’s been too much competition for him what with all his funny little ways.

He’s getting old, his back legs are weak and, although our dogs at kennels are very happy and kennels have got him back into great condition, after losing Oska recently a space opened up for an oldie, so here he is.

He’s been tricky with dogs in the past but our gang are showing him the ropes.

The staff kitchen is always the hang out and Prince completes it nicely.”

Prince has settled so well he will not be going anywhere now.

Why we do what we do

German Shepherd Rescue Elite was not only set up to help as many unwanted, abandoned and neglected German Shepherds as possible, but to also offer education to the general public on the responsibilities / pros / cons of owning a large working breed dog and to be able to offer help and advice so hopefully we can become the prevention for once instead of always being the cure.
