Raffi’s post said unless a rescue space can be found before 9am tomorrow morning, Raffi’s time is up and he will be pts. We were full but the pound pullers had emergency boarding available for a few weeks if a rescue could step up and take him on. Of course we could not let him die.

“🚩 PLEASE CONSIDER RAFFI, HE’S GOT A LOT OF LOVE TO GIVE & ALTHOUGH A MALI X, HIS BEHAVIOUR ISN’T TYPICAL OF THE BREED, HE’S NOT SO HYPERACTIVE 🚩

Looking for a rescue place only is Raffi.

Raffi is approximately 18 months old.

  • He is a male, entire, Malinois cross.
  • Raffi was found as a stray, he was running for several hours before he was caught.
  • When found he was wearing a muzzle, harness & collar.
  • He is not microchipped.
  • Raffi is nervous but hasn’t shown any aggression, he is happy to be handled by different staff.
  • He’s fine going onto the paddocks and back into his kennel. He is also fine with staff in his kennel.
  • Raffi has been assessed by a behaviourist (one experienced in working Malis), no concerns were raised.
  • Raffi doesn’t have any lead manners but he does know a lot of basic commands. Raffi was walked without a muzzle and was slightly dog reactive but easily distracted away from them. “

So please welcome Raffi, who is a Mali cross GSD and who is microchipped but it was not registered. He is very skinny so we will be getting some weight on him and then we will look at neutering. Vaccinations will also be started.

Lovely lad so far who seems happy to meet new people. He will be looking for a home experienced with the breed. No young children as we do not know his history. So far no major reactions to the other dogs but this will be further assessed.

Why we do what we do

German Shepherd Rescue Elite was not only set up to help as many unwanted, abandoned and neglected German Shepherds as possible, but to also offer education to the general public on the responsibilities / pros / cons of owning a large working breed dog and to be able to offer help and advice so hopefully we can become the prevention for once instead of always being the cure.
