This was Remy’s write up when he first came to us:
“Remy is a GSD cross Mali who is 2 years of age. Entire and microchipped but vaccinations out of date. We were asked by the Prison Services to take this lad in after he had been gifted to them as a potential prison dog. The agreement is if the dog is not suitable the owner takes them back. Remy is no way brave enough for prison work so his owner was contacted who did not want to know!
As we have no history on Remy we would not rehome with young children. Unknown with other dogs at present. He is very obedient however and seems to prefer women to men, or should I say he quite nervous of men!
Remy just needs an experienced home please to give him the confidence and life he deserves.”
Remy was adopted by an experienced lady and her husband in 2023 but is sadly having to be rehomed due to his lack of respect for husband which has involved a bite incident after he redirected whilst telling off their son who was outside of the house and was told to stop.
Whilst Remy will go on group walks with other dogs, which has taken a lot of work, he is kept muzzled and on a long line. When he first arrived, he got on with the son’s older dog and would walk with them, but since their son has taken in a new dog, he is reactive to the dog and their son and the only person he is now reactive towards.
He will greet complete strangers in a friendly manner and also visitors to the house, although typically barks at the bell. Would be best in an adult home or older teenagers, as Remy finds young children too exciting!
Remy can be left for a couple of hours, and is happy in the back of mum’s van, but if he could see other dogs outside of the vehicle, he would. Remy has had extensive obedience training in his home. With Fetch, he would prefer not to give up his ball on a rope, but will for a treat.
Remy does not realise he is now breaking mum’s heart, but husband cannot trust him, so do you have a Remy sized space please?
