Salem is just 4 years old. Not a full GSD, he is neutered and microchipped and we are told vaccinated. Good with older children. Very selective with other dogs. Fine with female GSD’s but hates pugs! He does live with 3 cats. This is what our volunteer had to say about him:

“The man is broken to be rehoming him but he is doing the right thing as he cannot care for him and Salem definitely needs a home in a quieter area with someone dedicated to him. He ticks a lot of boxes, he’s cat friendly, he’s not got any separation anxiety, he’s not destructive, he doesn’t have any toy guarding or resource guarding unless another dog tries to eat his food and he will bunt them out the way, he’s good on the lead, he’s perfectly healthy and in lovely condition, he’s got lovely manners but through the divorce his owner ended up with him despite being his partner’s dog, and he will not be working from home next year and he feels Salem isn’t getting what he needs. He does need more attention I think and would benefit from a quieter home currently they live in town and it’s too much sensory stuff for him with small dogs.  Someone needs to spend time with him helping him adjust to a new home as I think he’s very attached to his owner sadly which is understandable but I really think he will make someone a smashing dog. His owner understands we have to find him a home and he will continue to care for him until the right home can be found. Really quite sad to be honest. He’s a really lovely soft boy he made such a fuss of me when I went into his home.”

Salem’s owner has found him a new home.

Why we do what we do

German Shepherd Rescue Elite was not only set up to help as many unwanted, abandoned and neglected German Shepherds as possible, but to also offer education to the general public on the responsibilities / pros / cons of owning a large working breed dog and to be able to offer help and advice so hopefully we can become the prevention for once instead of always being the cure.
