Simba is available for adoption through GSRE – this is what his current owner says about him.

Simba is a 2.5-year-old, male, white German Shepherd with a medium length coat. He is not currently neutered or vaccinated (expired Nov 22) but is microchipped. His owner is unsure if he has any food allergies and describes him as having a sensitive stomach. He currently eats Bakers dry food with Butchers tripe, three times daily. In December 2022 he was diagnosed with epilepsy and is currently taking medication (phenobarbital) daily for this. No other medical concerns have been disclosed. He does not like going to the vets. He has lived in his current home since he was 10 weeks old.

Simba is being rehomed through GSRE as his current owner has health issues and is struggling to take care of him.

Simba has been around visiting children before but he would be best suited to a calmer home with no children due to showing some signs of tension and stress. He is selective with other dogs but gets on well with another family members Shepherds. He has never lived with another dog. He is not good with cats and his reaction to livestock is not known.

Simba is fine being left and is reasonable at traveling in the car. He lives indoors and is housetrained. He walks fine on the lead but his owner does not know if he has a recall. He knows sit and wait. He does not show any possessive tendencies over food/toys. He likes to play with toys and cardboard, and is also good at being groomed.

During the time the GSRE assessor spent with Simba, this is what they said about him.
Simba was on the defensive when the assessor arrived into the home and was initially very vocal. He growled and snapped in their direction a few times. He was interested in their treats but would not take one. His owner stated that he had never been aggressive towards anybody but did say that he doesn’t like men.

The assessor believes that Simba requires more stimulation/walks as he appeared to be somewhat bored. He has a lot of potential but needs an experienced owner and ongoing training.

Simba is a beautiful dog who is nicely groomed and well cared for. He is stunning and has a lot of potential. He will make an excellent companion for the right person.

Why we do what we do

German Shepherd Rescue Elite was not only set up to help as many unwanted, abandoned and neglected German Shepherds as possible, but to also offer education to the general public on the responsibilities / pros / cons of owning a large working breed dog and to be able to offer help and advice so hopefully we can become the prevention for once instead of always being the cure.
