Bear is available for adoption through GSRE – this is what his current owner says about him.
Bear is a 1-year-10-month-old, male, semi/long coated, black and tan German Shepherd. Neutered, vaccinated, flea/worm treated and microchipped.
He has no known food allergies and currently eats Wagg kibble twice daily. He has no disclosed medical issues. He has lived in his current home since he was 10 weeks old when he was bought from a private breeder.
He is a nervous boy when visiting the vets.
Bear is being rehomed through GSRE as his current owner’s situation has changed and they are no longer able to give him the care and training he needs.
Due to Bears nervous disposition we would only rehome with teenagers used to living with large dogs, he has met two dogs after a brief spell in foster and he really wasn’t keen at all so a dog free home is needed.
Bear has never bitten or shown any aggression towards anyone. He is very scared and anxious when people/deliveries come to the home. He would not go near the GSRE assessor when they visited and would not stay in the same room as them unless the owner was there also. He barked when the assessor moved around and will also bark at people outside the home.
Bear is currently left for up to 7 hours daily and does not show any destructive behaviours during that time. He travels well in the car, lives indoors and although he is described as being housetrained, he regularly has toilet accidents in the home. Bear has been clean whist in kennels and foster.
Bear is good when walking on a lead until someone walks too close (reaction not stated). He is not afraid of cars, bikes, loud noises or fireworks. He enjoys his toys and isn’t overly treat focused. He will show some possessive tendencies over food and high value toys. He has a recall and also knows sit, lie-down, paw and stay.
Bear will need a calm, experienced home to help him overcome his mistrust of everything.
