Sulley was 4 in March. He is neutered and microchipped and his vaccinations are up to date. Sulley is good with children and fine with other dogs he has been introduced to correctly but will be gobby when on lead. A no to cats.

Sulley barks at visitors and again, introduced correctly he is very gentle and friendly. He is strong on lead which needs further work, but does settle down. Has basic commands but recall needs establishing. No issues over food or toys and loves his ball and tuggy rope.

Sulley is being rehomed due to a relationship breakdown and he was left, along with a Rottie (who has been rehomed) with his dad who is disabled so unable to walk him. A friend helps out on occasion but his dad knows Sulley needs so much more than he can give.

This is what our volunteer has to say about him:

“In summary I think he is a fab dog for true GSD lovers (he is a big solid boy but a big teddy bear with people he knows) who understand – and are not intimidated by – his lead reactivity towards other dogs. Until this morning he lived with a Rottie bitch, who has just been privately rehomed, and they were good friends, along with other dog friends he knows, so he is not dog aggressive as such, just mouthy on lead! The owners friend took him out this morning with her own Swiss shepherd and after initial on lead barking they let them off in a secure field and they played. Sully has never shown any resource guarding around toys or food – the owner said his 18 month old daughter even takes his bowl away and toys out his mouth and Sully doesn’t react. He seems very gentle and friendly with people he knows.”

Why we do what we do

German Shepherd Rescue Elite was not only set up to help as many unwanted, abandoned and neglected German Shepherds as possible, but to also offer education to the general public on the responsibilities / pros / cons of owning a large working breed dog and to be able to offer help and advice so hopefully we can become the prevention for once instead of always being the cure.
