The message we received:

“Hi Lizzy, it really is never ending isn’t it? I’ve got this boy in the pound that’s friendly & really needs somewhere to go. This is Ryder, they’ve said he’s a large adult dog, but I’ve asked for an age. I was wondering if you could help him at all pls? She said he’s about 3/4 years old”

We took Ryder in and having checked his microchip, discovered he is actually called Finnegan and, managed to contact his breeder. Finnegan grew up with a young child and was only rehomed as his breeder lives on a farm and he would not leave the calves alone. His breeder was very upset to hear what had happened to him but said he has always been good with other dogs as well.

Currently in foster, Finnegan is a lovely lad but very clingy with foster mum probably due to all the stress he has been through. His vaccinations are being restarted and he will be neutered once he has settled further and put on some weight.

Finnegan will benefit from a home where he has his person there as much as possible and will live with other dogs. Once he has regained his confidence, this lad will be a super companion and family member.

Finnegan has found his perfect home and has been adopted.

Why we do what we do

German Shepherd Rescue Elite was not only set up to help as many unwanted, abandoned and neglected German Shepherds as possible, but to also offer education to the general public on the responsibilities / pros / cons of owning a large working breed dog and to be able to offer help and advice so hopefully we can become the prevention for once instead of always being the cure.
