On the 25th April we welcomed this beautiful girl into our care after she had been dumped in the pound.

We were given the heads up that she was a bit snappy and also that she was “out of time”. Luckily she was seen by a fellow rescuer who then asked for this girl to be given a few more days.

Sadly this girl had already been labelled as aggressive.

We went to collect her and we were met with a fearful very young dog ( under 12 months old) that had obviously not had the best start to her young life. She was defensive and rightly so as she had no trust in anyone.

Once back at our kennels we gave her the space and time that she needed but we also gave her lots of positivity to help increase her confidence.

This young girl was stick thin, she had an open sore on her neck and scarring from a previous injury, we dread to think what caused these injuries.

After just a day we started to see this girl improve both mentally and physically. She was eating well and she started to interact with us as she felt safe.

After a few days she was seen by our vet, she had her first vaccination and we also had her microchipped.
So everyone please meet Xena our little Warrior Princess!!

She is loving her walks, she has met a few more people and she’s been ok. Good with dogs, not phased by cars, bikes etc and she is now loving life!

Xena is a baby, she could be available now if the right home with the right people were to come along. She will need time and lots of understanding as she adjusts into a home and new surroundings but we just know that this girl can do this!

Why we do what we do

German Shepherd Rescue Elite was not only set up to help as many unwanted, abandoned and neglected German Shepherds as possible, but to also offer education to the general public on the responsibilities / pros / cons of owning a large working breed dog and to be able to offer help and advice so hopefully we can become the prevention for once instead of always being the cure.
