Arlo arrived into our care via another rescue.
He is around 5 yrs old, still entire and now fully vaccinated and chipped.

Arlo is a lovely lively young boy who enjoys a game of tug and he loves toys, he has a fair few in his kennel including a teddy which he adores.

Arlo is great on the lead and he’s been out walking with the other dogs and been ok with them but if a dog reacts he will react back.

He has met lots of volunteers and he warms to women better than men but after a few treats he’s fine. He is a no to cats and we suggest teenagers only as we have no information on his past. While he was still in the care of the other rescue he went into foster and sadly he attacked the resident dog so for that reason he needs to be the only dog in the home.

Arlo knows sit and will happily give you a paw and he has got quite good manners around food and toys. He isn’t a fan of the vet so he would need to be muzzled for any future visits.

This little fella is a typical youngster with lots of energy to burn, he enjoys his walks but will then happily settle down in his bed with a pigs ear.
We have had a bit of kennel guarding from him so this should be noted as he may do it in the home.

Arlo is ready for a home where he can settle and become one of the family, he will need to learn some boundaries but he’ll do that quickly as he’s a bright boy.

Sadly Arlo went into foster with a view to adopt, things were going great but he then decided that he would start to bully one half of the partnership and did use his teeth so has found himself back in kennels. We feel a single occupant would suit him better.

ARLO UPDATE…….

After 4 years in kennels, we thought a profile update is needed

These days Arlo is a bit like teenager who likes his own space and would be better with one owner as he tends to bond and then not like to share, although I am sure with an experienced owner this could be worked on as he has a number of volunteers who he loves but we have built up that trust with him over time but let me assure you cuddles and kisses from Arlo are so worth it

Lately Arlo has been extending his friends group and allowing new volunteers to get to know him but he doesn’t like being crowded as he gets nervous around too many people.
He loves a walk and is an absolute pleasure to walk on the lead. He is not reactive to other dogs but if a dog reacts, he will react back.

He knows basic commands like sit and will give his paw when asked and he will also take treats gently.

Although he is now over 7 years old this boy can still act like a puppy when the mood takes him, he is very playful and its lovely to see this as he is so cute. Arlo loves his toys and can be a bit of clown so would make someone a fun companion but he does need an experienced owner who can build up a bond with this lovely lad and build up his confidence with other people.

While he was still in the care of the other rescue he went into foster and sadly he attacked the resident dog so for that reason he needs to be the only dog in the home.
He isn’t a fan of the vet so he would need to be muzzled for any future visits.
Arlo is ready for a home where he can settle with one person but also have a space of his own where he can go if he wants space.

Why we do what we do

German Shepherd Rescue Elite was not only set up to help as many unwanted, abandoned and neglected German Shepherds as possible, but to also offer education to the general public on the responsibilities / pros / cons of owning a large working breed dog and to be able to offer help and advice so hopefully we can become the prevention for once instead of always being the cure.
