Buddy and Phoenix are being rehomed as their owner is unable to care for them long term. They are litter mates and will be 2 in April. Both are microchipped but only had puppy jabs. Buddy is neutered but Phoenix is not yet spayed but ad her last season at the end of February so could be done in a couple of months.

Both are good with children but Buddy better with older. Buddy can be good with other dogs but does chase them and Phoenix would need introduction. Both are a no to cats and livestock. Not used to being left for too long and neither have issues over food or toys.

Phoenix is good on lead and has recall and basic commands, however Buddy is not great on a lead but does not tend to leave his large garden due to low pasterns in his legs.

“Went and assessed Buddy today along with Phoenix, so Buddy has Low Pasterns in all of his legs but this does not affect his ability to run around, walk or enjoy himself as seen today, Buddy is a very affectionate and loving boy who mostly wants someone to cuddle with and give him some attention, he does not go out on walks out of choice which the owners have explained is due to his condition but he is a rather low energy dog but very sweet, his teeth were in good condition, along with ears and coat, his nails were a little longer than usual but it does not affect his mobility. He has a lovely nature and no aggression was shown, very much approached for a cuddle as soon as I walked in. He does live with a 3 year old boy currently and the owners have explained he was previously rehomed to an elderly gentleman who had around 4 small dogs and he lives with them without an issue but the gentleman passed away.”

Why we do what we do

German Shepherd Rescue Elite was not only set up to help as many unwanted, abandoned and neglected German Shepherds as possible, but to also offer education to the general public on the responsibilities / pros / cons of owning a large working breed dog and to be able to offer help and advice so hopefully we can become the prevention for once instead of always being the cure.
