Buddy is a GSD cross Mali who was adopted from us in 2022 after a relation ship split meant his mum was unable to keep him. This was his original write up:

“Buddy is good with children, having been around a 5 and 7 year old, and other dogs. He can be bossy with small dogs but is happily living with a small dog at present. Unknown with cats.  Has basic commands and recall and no issues over food or toys. Currently walked with a halti but he can still be strong.

Our volunteer said Buddy has good manners but did jump off but got down as soon as he was told. Very excitable, but still a youngster, but will need firm but fair continued training. In fact our volunteer would have been happy to take him home if she could!”

Sadly, Buddy needs to be rehomed as although he lived happily with an older bitch who was resident when he moved in, he is not good with dogs when out and his adopters are really struggling with this despite help with training which is ongoing. He also has a very high prey drive.

Buddy is fantastic with people and although barks at visitors on arrival, is super friendly. He is a big boy,so although he is fine with children, he would probably knock little ones over without meaning to. Buddy will need to be the only dog and needs a very active home, experienced with the breed.

Buddy walks well on the lead and has good recall (until he seems something to chase or bark at) and super commands. No issues over food or toys.

Can you give Buddy the home he needs?

Why we do what we do

German Shepherd Rescue Elite was not only set up to help as many unwanted, abandoned and neglected German Shepherds as possible, but to also offer education to the general public on the responsibilities / pros / cons of owning a large working breed dog and to be able to offer help and advice so hopefully we can become the prevention for once instead of always being the cure.
