May I introduce Duke who is 8 years old and came in with his daughter Missy from a farm. Dad died a year ago and now the house has been sold they needed a new home.

What a lovely character Duke has considering his life to date.  Having not really ever been introduced to the outside world Duke understandably lacks confidence and relies on his daughter Missy for comfort.  He has a very gentle nature and has no real issues that we are aware of. Duke has fairly good recall, his lead work will need attention as although he doesn’t pull he weaves around a bit, but this isn’t bad considering he hasn’t been on a lead before.

His general commands of sit and down have never been taught, however he is so willing to please that we don’t see that as a problem as he is so willing to learn. Duke loves to be groomed and takes his treats like the handsome gentleman he is.

Duke needs to go into a home that will take the time to introduce him to new experiences and help grow his confidence.  He is unsuitable to be homed with very young children purely as we don’t have any history and is unknown with cats.

Ideally Duke would love a home where he could be with Missy as they really do love each other.

Duke is settling in with his new family.

Why we do what we do

German Shepherd Rescue Elite was not only set up to help as many unwanted, abandoned and neglected German Shepherds as possible, but to also offer education to the general public on the responsibilities / pros / cons of owning a large working breed dog and to be able to offer help and advice so hopefully we can become the prevention for once instead of always being the cure.
