### HOME URGENTLY REQUIRED – GOOD WITH DOGS & CATS no young children. ###

Jake is available for adoption through GSRE – this is what his current owner says about him.

Jake is a 16-month-old, male, long coated, black and tan German Shepherd. He is neutered, Flea/worm treated, vaccinated and microchipped. He has no known food allergies and no disclosed medical issues. He currently eats a wet and dry food mix, twice daily. He has lived in his current home since he was a puppy and has been working with a trainer.

Jake is being rehomed through GSRE as his owner feels that due to the amount of people living in their home, along with a 5-year-old autistic child, Jake is becoming stressed in this environment. He will mouth when stressed and his current owner fears it may turn to a bite at some stage if he is not rehomed in a more suitable location.
Jake is described as not being good with children as he will mouth when he feels stressed. He is good with other dogs and is playful but has never lived with one. He is also good with cats but will chase birds in the garden. His reaction to other livestock is not known at this stage.

Jake has never bitten anyone and has not shown any aggression. He will mouth when stressed but was fine when the GSRE assessor visited the home. He has been left at home alone all day in the past with not signs of destructive behaviour. He travels well in the car.

Jake lives indoors and is fully housetrained. He walks well on the lead and has a recall when walked on a longline (unknown off-lead). He knows sit, down and paw. He is not possessive over food or toys but will sometimes show some guarding tendencies when in possession of a bone.

During the time the GSRE assessor spent with Jake, this is what they said about him.
Jake is a good-looking boy who appears to be in good condition. He is a much calmer boy when he is out of the house as he finds his current environment stressful.

Jake walks well on a lead and his recall is good on the long-line. He shows no reaction to passing traffic or people and is good with other dogs, nor did he react to the neighbour’s cat.

Jake, now called Trent, has been adopted.

Why we do what we do

German Shepherd Rescue Elite was not only set up to help as many unwanted, abandoned and neglected German Shepherds as possible, but to also offer education to the general public on the responsibilities / pros / cons of owning a large working breed dog and to be able to offer help and advice so hopefully we can become the prevention for once instead of always being the cure.
