May I introduce Kira who was picked up as a stray by the police in Bexleyheath. She is Just 5 years old. Unknown if spayed but vaccinations have been started.

According to her microchip, and from what the police found out, Kira has been in and out of homes 4 times in her short life. She was trained for security work but is no good at it because she is too nice and wants to say hello to everything!

No young children as no full history on her, but has met other dogs, sheep and horses in a brief overnight stay on her way to us. Was fine with the vet and wanted to say hello to everyone coming in and out.

We think this lovely lady would fit into most homes with little fuss.

Currently in foster and this is what her foster mum has to say about her:

“Kiera is settling in nicely, no longer trying to just dominate my dog, she has learnt if she submits every now and again, playtime lasts longer.
She is still not completely relaxed, I think she may have spent a lot of time in kennels/compounds as she really struggled to settle on the beds and paces a lot. But we are slowly getting there.
She gives me lots of kisses but again still think she needs time to trust her owner as she responds in the house but not so much out in a walk.
She has met loads of other dogs and just loves to play. However her recall which is not great becomes non existent even with treats and or her favourite thing a ball. A lot of work required there but I think with the right owner and once trust is built, she may be ok..
I get greeted every time I walk through the door with a bed, she pick it up and brings it to me which is super adorable!!”

Why we do what we do

German Shepherd Rescue Elite was not only set up to help as many unwanted, abandoned and neglected German Shepherds as possible, but to also offer education to the general public on the responsibilities / pros / cons of owning a large working breed dog and to be able to offer help and advice so hopefully we can become the prevention for once instead of always being the cure.
