May I introduce Koko. She was microchipped but not registered! We were asked to take her in and this is what we were told:
“I have a 2yr old female Mali cross that can be nervous of new people, she was brought into kennels due to owner being sectioned and another kennels apparently couldn’t handle her to the point she had to be sedated to be vaccinated by their vet and sedated to be transferred to my kennels. I have had her out and sat with her on several occasions and she is nothing but calm and relaxed to the point she will lay beside me and go to sleep. All kennel staff have said she is lovely and have had no concerns with her whatsoever.”
Koko has been quite accepting of the people at the kennels and is already coming out of her shell. Will be assessed with other dogs but for now this sweet girl is just finding her feet.
She will be looking for a calm and confident home to help her to start enjoying life to the full.
This is what the kennels have to say about Koko:
“Little sweet Koko is a very scared and unsure girl of the whole world but she hasn’t got a bad bone in her body. She can be very timed when meeting new people but does soon settle with treats and cuddles for reassurance. She walks well on lead and she is ok with dogs but doesn’t like dogs in her face.”
Koko is now nearly four years old. She has been in one of our foster homes since September 23. She is still nervous of new people so will need careful introduction to any visitors or kept separate. She can be reactive to some dogs and can lunge at passing bikes, cars, joggers etc so will need someone who has experience that has time to work on this. A rural home may be best for her so she isn’t overwhelmed while out on walks. She is currently walked on a gencon headcollar as does pull on lead.
She is fine around her toys and food but should be left alone with high value treats such as bones as will guard. Ok to be left for a few hours with no issues.
