Leroy was 3 at the beginning of May. He is microchipped but still entire and vaccinations out of date. Has been in his home since a pup and now having to be rehomed as owner is having to go into temporary housing and have a baby on the way.

Leroy is good with children of all ages and we are told he is good with other dogs and currently lives a cat. He is not used to being left for long but has not chewed when left.

Pulls on lead a bit so could do with more training, but is good off lead and has recall and basic commands. No issues over food or toys.

Was excited to meet our volunteer and was jumping up but then happily sat down to be stroked.

Leroy is a super lad who with a bit of fine tuning with his training will be a great addition to most homes experienced with the breed.

Update

Leroy went into a home but we believe that not only was he shell shocked in leaving his family, but maybe pushed to interact too quickly. There was an incident with a black dog when out walking and he grabbed mum’s arm by mistake when she pulled him away so the family did not feel comfortable with him.

He is now in foster and appears totally relaxed. Under the circumstances we would say older children only, and whilst he is in general good with other dogs when out and could probably live with an older female, he has been protective of his food from other dogs.

Leroy needs a confident and calm home who will give him the time and space to settle in his own time and in return you will be getting a super lad for the long term.

We will be getting his vaccinations started and he will be neutered once more settled.

Why we do what we do

German Shepherd Rescue Elite was not only set up to help as many unwanted, abandoned and neglected German Shepherds as possible, but to also offer education to the general public on the responsibilities / pros / cons of owning a large working breed dog and to be able to offer help and advice so hopefully we can become the prevention for once instead of always being the cure.
