Luna is available for adoption through GSRE – this is what her current owner says about her.

Luna is an 8-month-old female, black and tan German Shepherd with short hair. She is entire and has not yet had her first season. She is micro-chipped, vaccinated and flea/worm treated. She has no known food allergies and no disclosed medical issues. She has been in her current home since she was 3 months old after being bought from a breeder. She is an anxious girl and will bark a lot and show some anxious behaviour when visiting the vets.

Luna is being rehomed as her current owner is young, inexperienced and unable to give her the time and training that she needs. A trainer has advised her current owner that she should rehome her so Luna’s needs can be met.

Luna is described as being fine with the resident teenagers (14 years old and above). She is described as not being good with other dogs, becoming anxious/reactive and barking. She has never lived with another dog. She is not good with cats but is OK with livestock. She is not good when people come to the home or meeting people out and about. She will bark at people as they approach and if they continue to come too close to her, she will try and snap at them (believed due to anxiety). She is not left alone very often and does like to chew when she is left.

Luna is fine when travelling in the car, she lives indoors and is housetrained. She will pull when walked on the lead and will lunge at passing cars, especially if travelling from behind her. She has a recall and knows sit, stand, paw and down. She does not show any possessive tendencies over food/toys. She loves her treats and will happily train for cheese. She is not bothered by fireworks.

Luna is a lovely girl who will make a fantastic companion for the right owner who can continue her training and address her anxious behaviour with patience, hard work and consistency.

Why we do what we do

German Shepherd Rescue Elite was not only set up to help as many unwanted, abandoned and neglected German Shepherds as possible, but to also offer education to the general public on the responsibilities / pros / cons of owning a large working breed dog and to be able to offer help and advice so hopefully we can become the prevention for once instead of always being the cure.
