UPDATE JANUARY 2026

Grab yourself a coffee and pull up a chair while I tell you all about this utterly gorgeous boy.

If you came to my house where Mr Milo is currently in foster he would greet you like an old friend and you would ask the same question as everyone else….why is this gorgeous easy boy still waiting for his forever home. This boy has one issue that is so severe it has hampered his chances of walking into literally any home out there. He is a food guarder which if allowed will move onto water and toys. When he first arrived it was the worst we had ever seen but we have worked and worked with him and it is now greatly improved but we do also know that if / when he made that move to a new home the chances of his regressing are very high and how would you cope?
Sadly none of this is down to him, his first owner tormented him to the point of distraction and now these traits are ingrained in him, people have a lot to answer for.

I sincerely believe that the right home could over time deal with this as this boy is 99% perfect but the huge 1% needs addressing.

I am very happy to help the right home every step of the way to give this lad the life he so deserves.

He runs with my dogs, good around the horses, travels well, good on the lead, crate trained, no separation issues.

A true gent…..with the tiniest sprinkle of devil in there.

This boy does have severe aggression around food and sometimes around toys too, we do think that he’s been tormented in the past hence why he’s developed this behaviour.

Looking beyond the food and toy problem this boy has a massive potential, we have already seen lots of positive signs of improvement but because of the issues we cannot place this boy into a home where he will be in contact with children.

Milo has recently adopted but sadly he did not cope with the change over from kennels to home life and returned to the rescue.

He did show aggression in the home to more than one member of the family. His behaviour became even more challenging over food / toys and being told no.

If Milo has any kind of a chance in a new home people need to be aware of all of the above and full support will be given by us.

Why we do what we do

German Shepherd Rescue Elite was not only set up to help as many unwanted, abandoned and neglected German Shepherds as possible, but to also offer education to the general public on the responsibilities / pros / cons of owning a large working breed dog and to be able to offer help and advice so hopefully we can become the prevention for once instead of always being the cure.
