“I am emailing you regarding a possible rehoming candidate as you were recommended to me by another vet.

I am a vet working in London. We had a 6 month old Malinois  brought in by his owner this evening requesting euthanasia after two separate bites of an adult in the house (male). The dog was originally taken on by the owner from a very poor environment with no socialisation, training, or basic healthcare. The new owner has become overwhelmed by his reactivity and bites and so brought him in for euthanasia. Instead he has been signed over to our practice for the mean time and we are looking into if rehoming is an option before considering euthanasia.

I was wondering if you have any capacity to consider him as a rehoming applicant at all? I understand you must be very busy and full but wanted to check.”

We could not say no to this baby and of course took him in. Negan was not even 1 when he arrived, being born in July 2024. He is microchipped and vaccinated.

“Negan is a big and powerful guy, very guard behaviour as he can be unsure of new people and takes time to bond. He can be selective whom he likes and has shown protective behaviour to his handler. He needs very clear boundaries and shows a lot of his bull breed behaviour. He loves Indy who keeps him in his place with no retaliation from him.”

Very special home will be needed for this young lad!
