Reggie

Reggie (1)
Reggie (2)
Reggie (3)

Reggie will be 4 in May. He is currently entire but is microchipped. Unknown if up to date on vaccinations. Good with older children but unsocialised with other dogs and unknown with cats. Been in his home since a pup but now being rehomed due to a change in circumstances meaning he is being left long hours and not getting the time he deserves.

“The owner said he isn’t fussy with food and feeds two tins of supermarket meat per day (twice per day) and some biscuits.  As a brief overview for behaviour;  I met the owner outside her house at first to walk with her and the dog at her request – he was very reactive when I approached, barking, lunging etc. the behaviour was very forward however I would suspect this is from fear/lack of socialisation.  Lead walking – he was pulling hard on the lead however he was on a flat collar and chain lead as he has not had any formal training – walking did ease as the walk continued. Was keen to pull towards other dogs on the walk however no signs of reactivity again lack of socialisation likely, unsure how the dog behaves with other dogs as has never been introduced. Curious and wanted to approach other humans however owner seemed unsure of how he would respond if he got up to the person. He has never been off lead so likely no recall, he knows “sit” and “paw”. Upon arriving back I entered the home and ignored the dog, he did approach to sniff, no barking or aggression this time however he was keen to jump up to mount (he is intact) and I did observe some behaviours such as tail chasing and pacing. He did take treats from me and was happy to approach after ignoring for some time however I did not invade his space as could see he was uncertain.”

Reggie needs an experienced home please who can give him the training and socialisation he has so badly missed out on. Can you give this handsome lad a home?

Why we do what we do

German Shepherd Rescue Elite was not only set up to help as many unwanted, abandoned and neglected German Shepherds as possible, but to also offer education to the general public on the responsibilities / pros / cons of owning a large working breed dog and to be able to offer help and advice so hopefully we can become the prevention for once instead of always being the cure.
