Rex is 13 months old. Came in entire but has now been neutered. He is microchipped and is now fully vaccinated.
We were asked to take him in after an incident with a child:
“Essentially the dog is a family dog from London where he has bitten one of the 4 family children to the arm, relatively minor but enough to go to A+E. They were travelling along the M1 unrestrained in the back of the family car with the 4 children and bit one of the children on the hand. The owner and I have had a good chat and she is now understanding that a high drive young GSD and 4 young children combined with her lack of experience in handling aren’t a good mix therefore dog has been disclaimed.”
After a couple of weeks in the kennels Rex appears to have bonded with the kennel manager and did try to bite a couple of other people, without warning. He has been with us now for a couple of weeks and we have not seen this behaviour however, Rex is wary of new people, hardly surprising with the turmoil he has had in his short life.
We would not rehome Rex with young children for obvious reasons. He has been fine around other dogs at the kennels and we now actually use him to test other dogs reactions when out on walks. Unknown with smaller dogs. Rex loves water and his ball!
This young lad will need a GSD experienced home that can give him the time and space to build a bond and trust, and that can continue with his training and socialisation he needs.
Rex has been adopted.
