This young man is Scrappy who is a GSD cross. He is now 6 years old. He is now neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. Scrappy was taken in by his previous owner’s son from a friend of a friend and they suspect he was mistreated. However son basically abandoned him with his mum, who did not have the experience, time or finances to care for him.
Scrappy was living with two teenage boys who he obviously adored. He would challenge mum’s authority sometimes. Older children only as whilst he is very affectionate, he has obviously not had the best start in life and is under socialised with the outside world. Good with some dogs but not all. May benefit from an older female to give him confidence and show him the ropes. Has lived with cats but chases them so a cat free home would be best please.
Scrappy has basic commands and responds well to treats. Scrappy was anxious in his home but has come out of his shell whilst in our care. This what the kennels have to say about him:
“Say hello to Scrappy this boy is to young to be in kennels he is such a loving gentle boy when he gets to know you which doesn’t take him to long after a walk with new people can’t blame him really he spent most his life shut inside not being shown the outside world his improving everyday! He is 3 years old good with other dogs and has previously lived with 4 cats if you think you can give him a forever or foster home please apply online! 🏡❤️”
Scrappy just needs an experienced home that can give him calm but confident guidance and training. He would be great at something like agility. This lad just needs to be set on the right path please.
Currently in foster this is what foster mum has to say:
“Well, Scrappy has been with us for just over a month now and has settled into a home life so well. After pestering my daughter’s little lab to play constantly, he now knows it’s on her terms if she wants to. He is an intelligent dog and learns routines and instructions so quickly. He absolutely adores tennis balls, chasing and retrieving, but also ripping off the outer ‘fluff’ and playing with the rubber ball underneath He is extremely fun to be around and is an extremely cheeky character. He is loving life out of kennels and would make a beautiful family dog. He can share a house/bed with another dog as all he wants to do is play. Although he is also willing to sleep and be settled during the time that I work at home. Give him a chance “
