Meet Zeus, still a baby at 14 month old, still entire, fully vaccinated and chipped.

We are told he is fine around children, will bark at other dogs when he sees them so will need further socialising, a no to cats and has never seen livestock.

He can bark at men more than women who visit the home.

He is being left for long periods at the moment and I feel a lot of the issues he has is down to the fact he spends so much time on his own at such a young impressionable age.

He barks at strangers, bikes and other dogs.He knows his basic commands and does have some recall.

He is muzzled on vet visits for safety.

When our volunteer arrived at the home to assess Zeus he was in a crate and on entering the house with her husband Zeus really kicked off at her husband so much so he went back out to their car to help calm Zeus down.

He was fine with the lady vollie and did take some treats and gave her a fuss.

Sadly this lad is not going to flourish in his present home and we feel will only gradually get worse.

This young man needs a Gsd experienced home to help him move forward to being the good boy he could be in the right hands.

Zeus has since his assessment moved to our Lincs kennels to have some much needed training and socialising as this poor lad was sadly lacking in both departments. You can follow his progress on our FB page as he gains his confidence. Not quite ready for adoption just yet.

Zeus has made huge improvements since being in our care but is still very much work in progress. He recently had a short stay in a foster home, he did not like visitors coming into the home and did use his teeth to say so, he does not take well to being told no and will react so his new owner must have Gsd experience. We will only rehome with older / teenage children.

Zeus has been adopted.

Why we do what we do

German Shepherd Rescue Elite was not only set up to help as many unwanted, abandoned and neglected German Shepherds as possible, but to also offer education to the general public on the responsibilities / pros / cons of owning a large working breed dog and to be able to offer help and advice so hopefully we can become the prevention for once instead of always being the cure.
