Zeus is available for adoption through GSRE – this is what his current owner says about him.

Zeus is an 8-year-old, male, semi-long haired, black and tan (mainly black) German Shepherd cross Akita. He is neutered and his vaccinations are now due. He is not currently worm/flea treated but is microchipped. He has no known food allergies and eats a mix of wet and dry twice daily. He has no disclosed medical issues and is very good during vet visits.

Zeus is being rehomed through GSRE as his owner has lost their home and is being moved into accommodation with a strict no pet policy. His current owner has had Zeus since he was 8 weeks old – this is a very upsetting situation that they have found themselves in.

Zeus is described as being good with children of all ages and currently spends time around a two- year-old child. He is good with smaller dogs but has never lived with another. His current owner believes he would be better living as an only dog.

He is OK with cats but his reaction to livestock is unknown. He has never shown any aggression towards anybody and is extremely friendly when people come to the home.

Zeus is rarely left alone at home but when he is, he does not show any signs of separation anxiety or destructive behaviour. He travels well in the car, lives indoors and is fully housetrained.

He is described as being good on the lead, albeit can be strong, and has no recall. He knows commands sit, paw, beg, laydown, speak and high-5. He does not show any possessive tendencies over food or toys.

During the time the GSRE assessor spent with Zeus, this is what they said about him.

Zeus is a lovely and extremely friendly boy who is quiet and loves a good cuddle!
Zeus sat down nicely for the assessor and took treats gently. He was very well behaved and showed no food/toy aggression during the assessment. He was seen, by the assessor, around the owners two-year-old child and described him as being fantastic and very gentle with them.

Zeus is a wonderful dog who would make an exceptional companion and family member. If the assessor could have taken him home, they would have done!

Why we do what we do

German Shepherd Rescue Elite was not only set up to help as many unwanted, abandoned and neglected German Shepherds as possible, but to also offer education to the general public on the responsibilities / pros / cons of owning a large working breed dog and to be able to offer help and advice so hopefully we can become the prevention for once instead of always being the cure.
