This gorgeous young man is Sparky who is a Belgian Malinois Shepherd. Sparky was born in November 2016 so is still a baby, however found himself in the pound due to an eye injury which we assume his owner could not be bothered to treat, and possibly rejected him as assumed he could not be a full working dog. Well his nose still works!

Sparky is the most delightful little soul, full of puppy energy and play. Has loved all people and dogs he has met. He is vaccinated and microchipped and is now also neutered. His eye is still under investigation but the vets believe it is primarily a congenital problem as the eye is a lot smaller than the other, plus a trauma injury which left it very red with an infection tract that seemed to run down his face (see slide show as to how his eye has improved). Sparky has not let any of this bother him in the slightest.

We will be looking for a very special home for this lad, preferably with other dogs, a home that understands the high energy levels of this breed and can give him the exercise and mental stimulation they crave. We are still unsure how much vision he has in his bad eye, but for now he is a happy go lucky lad looking for a home please.

Sparky has found a home experienced with his breed and life really starts now.

Why we do what we do

German Shepherd Rescue Elite was not only set up to help as many unwanted, abandoned and neglected German Shepherds as possible, but to also offer education to the general public on the responsibilities / pros / cons of owning a large working breed dog and to be able to offer help and advice so hopefully we can become the prevention for once instead of always being the cure.
