Please meet Little Boy Blue or Baloo for short.

We took this young chap in from the council pound as he’d been found straying.

Baloo is around 4/5 years old, he is neutered and chipped but he will need to restart his vaccinations.

When Baloo arrived he was in a poor state, he was very underweight and very dry skin. he was very withdrawn for the first week as he was in a new place with unfamiliar faces. We needed to help him to feel better and we also needed to gain his trust.

Fast forward two weeks and we now have a very pleasant little chap, he has gained weight, his coat now shines, his tail wags and he now loves the attention of the volunteers.

Baloo loves his toys especially the squeaky ones, he has a favourite ball that he carries everywhere. He will sit and wait for his ball to be thrown but he doesn’t always bring it back.

He has a good appetite and he is continuing to gain weight and condition. He loves treats especially cocktail sausages and takes them very gently.

Baloo is now happy to be groomed, he was a little unsure at first but now he finds it quite enjoyable.

This boy walks beautifully on the lead and he isn’t phased by anything whilst out walking, he will happily ignore other dogs as he just wants to do his own thing which mainly involves sniffing.

Baloo maybe ok to live with a calm neutered female with the correct introduction, he’s also happy to walk with other dogs. Unfortunately we cannot cat test.

As with all the dogs that arrive from the stray pound he will only be placed with older children only ie teenagers as we have no background history at all.

Ideally we are looking for a quieter home for this boy as we feel he would benefit from a relaxed household where he can be allowed to just be himself.

Baloo has been adopted.

Why we do what we do

German Shepherd Rescue Elite was not only set up to help as many unwanted, abandoned and neglected German Shepherds as possible, but to also offer education to the general public on the responsibilities / pros / cons of owning a large working breed dog and to be able to offer help and advice so hopefully we can become the prevention for once instead of always being the cure.
