May I introduce Yara who is 6 years young. She is spayed, microchipped and fully vaccinated. Her current owner took her in as she was advertised free to a good home on Scumtree, sorry, Gumtree, at the end of May. She arrived overweight and with a bad belly which her current owner has resolved with good food and the addition of Panzym, however her vet does not think she has EPI. Yara does have mild hip dysplasia and a luxating patella, which could be the result of spending so much time in a crate ion her previous home, however it does not seem to bother her and she is not naturally an over energetic dog.

Unknown with young children but fine with other dogs and used to live with a Shitzu. Has prey drive so probably a no to cats! Only being rehomed as her current owner is an older lady and does not feel she can give Yara the appropriate exercise in the long term. This is what our volunteer had to say about her:

“I met Yara today – what an absolute poppet. She announced my arrival in the usual GSD way but immediately came over to say hello and show me her toy wit a big waggy tail. She was really happy to see me but not over excited. She smelt the treats in my pocket and was happy to do some moves for a reward – sit, paw, other paw, down – and she threw in a roll for free so I could give her belly a rub.

Yara is an absolute stunner – she is not a huge GSD and her coat is gorgeous. We went for a walk and she was lovely – no pulling (she does wear a dogmatic but that’s mostly for the owner’s assurance) lots of sniffing and her ears did prick up when she saw some birds – but mainly just pretty unphased.

I get the impression she’s a bit of a home body and loves lounging around with her humans – she’s got a lovely nature and although she’s clearly got a bit of spirit, she is not what I’d call a high energy dog.”
