Charlie (5)

May I introduce Charlie who will be 5 this September. He is microchipped and up to date with vaccinations but still entire. Charlie in good with children but selective about other dogs and a not to cats. Charlie has been in his home since a pup and is now being rehomed as his owner is looking to move out of the family home and cannot find anywhere that will let her take Charlie.

Charlie is used to being left for 4-5 hours and has no issues over food or toys. Good on lead with recall and good basic commands. He has had skin issues in the past which have been resolved with a specific diet and is in great condition at present.

This is what our volunteer had to say about him:

“Charlie gave one bark when I knocked at the door but was happy to let me in, sniffed my trousers for a few minutes, he seems on first meeting to be a happy and well adjusted dog. He has problems with some other dogs after being attacked when still a pup. Once he gets to know a dog he is ok. On the lead his reaction is variable, sometimes no problem but other times gets anxious. He is better off lead and does not go far from his owner, he has a good recall. Charlie gets very excited when he sees his collar and lead and takes some time to calm down, tends to squeak a lot in the car.

Although he has had skin issues in the past Charlie now looks a fit, healthy dog, ears are fine, no problems with skin, good teeth, he let me run my hands all over him, picked up a paw to look at his nails and a quick look at his ears. If I didn’t have Max I would be happy to have Charlie.”

Why we do what we do

German Shepherd Rescue Elite was not only set up to help as many unwanted, abandoned and neglected German Shepherds as possible, but to also offer education to the general public on the responsibilities / pros / cons of owning a large working breed dog and to be able to offer help and advice so hopefully we can become the prevention for once instead of always being the cure.
