Dora came into us at the end of January having been picked up as stray with no microchip. As you can see the poor lass came in a dreadful state. She had a full check over at the vets and fortunately nothing more than underweight and terrible skin condition. Basic neglect!

We think she is about 2 years old. Her vaccinations have been started and she is now microchipped. Doubtful that she is spayed. The kennels have worked hard with her skin giving her regular baths and applying cream, and as you can see she is improving all the time.

Lovely with people despite whatever she has been through, but not keen on other dogs and a no to cats.

Dora would like a home where she can be the only dog please where she will get the love and tlc she has so obviously missed out on until now. Older children only as we do not know her full history.

This is what one of our volunteers had to say about her having taken her home for the afternoon:

“aDORAble Dora (sorry couldn’t resist!).. 😍

What we learnt about her today:
🐾inquisitive – anything you touch, she wants to know what it is
🐾Cuddle monster – she LOVES a fuss
🐾not bothered about loud noises
🐾very happy to be in the car
🐾enjoys playing with the hosepipe
🐾gets bored quickly so needs stimulation
🐾will need high fences (this is a requirement anyway but she often stood on her back legs to try and see what was over the fence)
🐾she knows a few basic commands but not many so will need training
🐾very sweet nature towards humans

This very young girl is amazing!”

Can you help Dora please?

Dora has been adopted and loves her new family and home.

Why we do what we do

German Shepherd Rescue Elite was not only set up to help as many unwanted, abandoned and neglected German Shepherds as possible, but to also offer education to the general public on the responsibilities / pros / cons of owning a large working breed dog and to be able to offer help and advice so hopefully we can become the prevention for once instead of always being the cure.
