Layla

Layla (1)
Layla (2)

Young Layla has been through quite a bit in her short life. Her current owner is rehoming as they realise, as pensioners used to an old Lab, they cannot give her the exercise and stimulation she needs. They got her 6 months ago from a friend. On checking her history, Layla was actually with the police and was a super dog but failed her floor environmental so was rehomed, and they are not happy she has been passed about like this without being advised.

Layla is microchipped and fully vaccinated but not yet spayed. Loves people, but older children only as we do not know if she has had any interaction with young children. Has not been socialised with other dogs for a while so will need careful introduction back into the doggie world, but sometimes barks at them when out walking. Unknown with cats.

Layla loves her ball, not a surprise given her background, and sofa surfing! She walked with our volunteer with no problems.

“No barking at all when I went to the door dog very friendly but also very calm meeting me. I took her out on a halti and had no problems getting her to walk to heel and no issues with cars, he says they struggle to walk her as she is strong, also says he can’t cope with her thinking she is going somewhere everytime they move (that’s GS )she is very people friendly good with toys etc but doesn’t like you trying to grab out of her mouth fine once she has dropped the ball, happily goes into vets gets on scales but doesn’t like it once vet tries to treat her for anything. He goes to a field everyday and plays ball with her. Overall I saw I relaxed dog that just chilled out on the chair. He said she needs a more active home.”

Can you give Lovely Layla a home please!

Why we do what we do

German Shepherd Rescue Elite was not only set up to help as many unwanted, abandoned and neglected German Shepherds as possible, but to also offer education to the general public on the responsibilities / pros / cons of owning a large working breed dog and to be able to offer help and advice so hopefully we can become the prevention for once instead of always being the cure.
