We were asked by another rescue if we could help this young man called Max. They had been contacted by local vets who was looking to help Max’s owner as being elderly and living in a flat, they were struggling with exercising and training him. They have had Max for 4 months and when they asked the breeder for help, they did not want to know. Why am I not surprised!
Max was 1 at the end of May. He is fully vaccinated and microchipped and now neutered. Our volunteer described him as big and bouncy and scare everyone to death, but it’s just playfulness. Max has no lead training or recall but does know sit and lay down. No issues over food or toys.
We would not rehome with children but he is been fine with all dogs he has met, large and small.
Max went into a home where he was settling nicely but one evening for apparent reason lunged at the man and they felt they could not trust him again. We have never seen any aggression from this lad previously or since but this does need to be taken into consideration.
Max needs a very experienced home who can start his training from scratch whilst giving him firm boundaries. Wants to learn and could be a super dog who would also love a job!
This is what the kennels have to say about Max:
“Max is a big, daft, chunky lad who is a massive overgrown pup who has finally learned some manners! He been good with all dogs even little dogs even though he doesn’t know how big he is. He does pull on lead but walks better on a halti. He just needs someone with experience and wiling to train him into the amazing dog he can be and is.”
Max has been adopted.
