Just take a look at this fabulous specimen of a German Shepherd dog!! Say hello to Ross.

This lad has given the best years of his life to the police force and now finds himself in rescue after being re homed to a very elderly lady who was taken in to care and he was left living in a stable!!

He is still entire, his vaccinations have lapsed, microchipped.

Although this lad is 11 you would never know, he is still very much switched on to all that’s happening around him, great with other dogs, fine with older children but a big no to cats.

He went straight into foster and his foster family couldn’t bear to part with him so they have now adopted him! Lucky boy!

Sadly Ross has gone to Rainbow Bridge. His mum had this to say:

“So here’s the post I never wanted to write. This morning, the legend that was RPD Rossifer, walked his final beat. Such an amazing dog and an absolutely stunning example of this fine breed. It has been my absolute privilege and pleasure to have owned this dog and I regret only that he wasn’t on the rescue’s radar sooner. I am so thankful to Allison Clarke for letting me have this boy who most certainly has taken our hearts with him. I am utterly bereft without him and it was the hardest decision I’ve had to make with any of my dogs. All the dogs I’ve owned or fostered are special; every one I’ve lost, I still love and think of and miss…but then there’s Ross who was in a league of his own. RIP my beautiful boy, thank you for your service to your country and for the love you gave your family. Nothing is the same without you. May you have fun wrecking the joint in Heaven and I’ll see you there if they let me in. If not, come and find me. We couldn’t have loved you more.”

Why we do what we do

German Shepherd Rescue Elite was not only set up to help as many unwanted, abandoned and neglected German Shepherds as possible, but to also offer education to the general public on the responsibilities / pros / cons of owning a large working breed dog and to be able to offer help and advice so hopefully we can become the prevention for once instead of always being the cure.
